Editors' Note

The past three weeks have probably been hectic for most of you, trying to meet deadlines and find some energy for those last few tutorials, all the while worrying about how to get home safe and sound. Oxford is not a relaxing place at the best of times, but this term has really shown us how intense it can be with self-isolations, testing, Tier 2 and lockdown, things which most of us never anticipated when signing up to study here.

The Oxford vacation period is also something misleading, and you might find yourself explaining to family members that no, you don’t really have time off from studying, you just have more work to do in the gap between terms. This vacation, just like term time, now has the added stress of having to choose which family members to include in your support bubble for Christmas Day.

Being at this university during a global pandemic may be seen as a “unique experience” to “look back on” by some, but we know that for many it has been upsetting, challenging and, sometimes, even downright awful. With this magazine we want to encourage you to take some time to have fun over the vac and really take care of yourself, to watch some fun and heart-warming holiday films with loved ones, and to try to forget about the stress and strains of this year even if just for a little while. After all the terribleness of 2020, you deserve some time off, especially as an overworked Oxford student.

So in this magazine we have compiled some fantastic movie recommendations and some cracking articles to help you fall in love with even more great films over this vac. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this little magazine so far, we can’t wait to come back next year with even more great content!

We hope you enjoy reading and watching!

Hyping fans up about a second season, Euphoria’s first bridge episode, in the spirit of Christmas, heralds a new hope that thrives on arduous self-reflection.
